The strength of the drivetrain can also withstand the use of an optional brushless motor and speedo to take the Kobra to a whole new level of performance.
The strong and low-maintenance shaft drive system features metal ring and pinion gears at each end of the car. The gear-type differentials are very strong, produce excellent handling characteristics and they don't require any adjustment. They're mounted inside sealed gearboxes, which protect the gears from the elements, ensuring weeks of high-performance running between maintenance intervals. Add an inline slipper clutch attached to the center driveshaft, and the drive system is very capable of handling some of the roughest bashing. The drivetrain as well as all other rotating parts are supported by performance-enhancing, precision ball bearings.
The motor is mounted inline in the Kobra, and it installs on to an eccentric mounting plate. This allows easy and precise adjustment of the gear mesh. The motor is also easily removed for maintenance or replacement. Covers protect both the pinion and spur gears, so they're well protected from debris that gets into the chassis.
The suspension of the Kobra is both high-performance and low-maintenance. It features race-inspired lower suspension arms with oil-filled shocks for damping. The upper links are fixed at the ideal length for their respective positions, providing great suspension geometry with the hassle of having to adjust all your linkage rods. They're also more durable than adjustable rods so you can take that big jump with a little more confidence that your car will survive the landing. The lower suspension arms and upper links are also symmetrical, so they'll fit either side of the car. That means you can carry fewer replacement parts and still cover any suspension repair.
New wheels and tires are made especially for the Kobra, and they're ideal for all types of terrain. Of course they're well suited to off-road conditions, but the tight tread pattern can also be useful for running on the street. The wheels are the same size and offset as those used on the Kyosho competition ZX-5 SP and FS cars, so you can install any replacement wheels or tires that will fit those vehicles.
