Front wheel drive MINI-Z FWD Components

DRIVELINE

FWD Series is the MINI-Z front wheel drive model. Front midship mount of the motor positions the weight near the front drive axles and delivers superior driving stability just like full-size FWD cars. Compared to the MINI-Z RWD series, the FWD is less likely to spin out.

CHASSIS & RADIO SYSTEM

While the motor is mounted in a higher position, the four battery cells are mounted lower to realize a low center of gravity overall. With the rearrangement of some parts, the wheelbase and tread can be adjusted to fit different body styles. The KT-531P transmitter operates on FHSS 2.4GHz and combines with the control program to deliver superior straight line running and linear steering feel. (※Not compatible with previous ASF/MHS/FHS2.4GHz systems).

DETAILS

1. Motor: 130-class motor with maximum speed of about 17km/h.

2. Pinion Gear: Transfers power with minimal loss with 1/100mm precision construction. Change number of gear modules to change maximum speed and acceleration characteristics.

3. Spur Gear: Transfers power with minimal loss with 1/100mm precision construction.

4. Differential: Inner wheel turning speed can be adjusted to realize smooth cornering with the high performance differential with bevel gears included as standard.

5. Universal Swing Shaft: Transfers power smoothly to the tires, even while steering.

6. Knuckle: Can be set to negative camber by installing camber knuckles (with built-in camber angle).

7. Bearings: Fully equipped with precision ball bearings to minimize power loss.

8. Steering Servo: Delivers quick steering response even with the drive load on the front wheels and also realizes wider steering angle than the RWD.

9. Tie Rods: Toe-in angle can be adjusted by installing different length tie rods. (will be released)

10. Spring: Adjust spring tension by changing springs.

11. Front Upper Arm: Change to wider tread by replacing front upper arms together with under cover.

12. Front Suspension Upper Arm

SUSPENSION

Equipped with VCS (variable camber system) that adjusts camber in conjunction with front suspension stroke. Steers like you’re on the rails while maintaining neutral steering feel by eliminating toe-in and toe-out movement with suspension stroke. Rear suspension uses a strut system for its superior reliability and minimal change to alignment.

DIFFERENTIAL

MINI-Z FWD is equipped with high performance bevel gear differential to control the different turning speeds of inner and outer wheels as the car moves smoothly through corners.

Tune up to adjust driving characteristics.
Style up to drive with flair.

While the MINI-Z FWD series is an easy choice as a first RC car, it has the performance and potential of a true racing car. A huge range of optional upgrade parts is available to increase running performance and add personal style touches to your machine.

Try driving with a gyro unit

When the gyro unit is installed, it detects instability in the chassis and automatically adjusts steering to improve straight line running and stability, making the car easier to control. The amount of gyro input and effect on the chassis can be adjusted so you can make settings to suit your driving style.

Increase rear toe-in

Increasing rear toe-in can improve straight line and cornering stability. Normal toe-in is 0.5°, but can be changed to 1.5° with setting tie rods to increase stability and driving control.

Change rear camber angle

Even though the FWD car is less likely to spin out than the RWD model, depending on the road surface there still maybe situations where there is not enough rear traction going through corners. For this situation the camber knuckle set can be installed to change camber to a negative setting. This realizes mild movement and stability through corners.

Driving with ball diff

When entering a corner at high speed, traction maybe lost with lift of the inside wheel. Replace the normal differential with a ball diff to improve traction and forward drive power.

Change handling characteristics with different front springs

Steering feel is determined by the front springs. Default setting is for a slight under steer. Softer springs will result in sharper turning characteristics.

Driving with rear double-wishbone suspension

Rear double-wishbone suspension (DWS) with down-stop, ball connected shafts and friction shock that uses grease formulation to adjust damping force. Allows precise and fine suspension adjustments.

Turn your MINI-Z RWD into an extreme machine with the KT-432PT

High performance transmitter with full color touch display. Each setting can be adjusted through the touch screen, similar to a smartphone. In addition to high performance response, the transmitter features graphical representation of key RC car settings such as end point and exponential.
